The Scope
We are looking for a Senior Manager Leadership Communication & Global Policy who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

We are seeking a proactive strategic executive communication professional to lead our new programme in the global communication and media department. 
The Senior manager is responsible for developing and executing an organization-wide communication strategy that elevates the role of organizational leadership, global leadership team and Bonn based senior management team. This position plays a key role in building the organization's reputation, influence, ensuring that FSC leaders are well positioned as thought leaders in their field and are consistently communicating our mission, vision, and values to external audiences, including private sector leaders, policymakers, high-level donors, and media.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Global Director of Communication & Media (Engagement unit), the senior manager will:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive executive communication strategy that aligns with FSC overall communication objectives and goals and raises the profile of key executives.
  • Work closely with the DG, CEO, and CPO, and senior leaders to identify key messages and develop effective communication plans that engage, inform, and inspire internal and external audiences.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities for executive engagement, including media interviews, speaking engagements, and other external events.
  • Produce high-quality written content, including speeches, talking points, op-eds, and articles, on behalf of the DG, CEO, CPO, and other senior leaders.
  • Oversee the executive communication efforts, including monitoring and analysing metrics such as media coverage, website traffic, and engagement on social media platforms.
  • Partner with the marketing and communication team to create executive focused content that is shareable across channels, including social media, web, and email.
  • Directs, develops, and manages executive communication budget, ensuring budget and funding allocations are structured to meet the needs of the institution and expenses are managed within budget constraints.
  • Represents FSC at appropriate conferences and events where strategic communication is a priority. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Global Director of Communication & Media.
Your profile
Education and Training: 
  • Bachelor’s University degree in Journalism, PR, Communication, or a similar field. Master’s degree preferred.
Working Experience, Style and Skills:
  • At least 10 years professional experience in public relations or executive communication is required.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a track record of producing high-quality written content for senior leaders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Must possess a keen interest in and familiarity of top-tier events and conferences. 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex communication challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Successfully sell ideas within the organization and work cooperatively with people from other organizations and cultures; Strong interpersonal communication skills, especially relationship management skills and the ability to work diplomatically as part of a high-level, multi­dimensional, international team.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in executive communication.
  • Must possess appreciation and enthusiasm for conservation.
  • Deep commitment to responsible forestry and/or broad sustainability in alignment with FSC’s mission.
Communication & Language Skills: 
  • Excellent English writing skills and the ability to shape messages for intended audiences.
  • Knowledge of Spanish and French are additional.
  • The ability to engage with journalists and media representatives and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
Digital Skills: 
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite (advanced PowerPoint skills).
  • Familiarity with media monitoring and reporting tools.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany 
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Duration of Employment: Initial 2-year contract with the intend to convert to open ended. 
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Frequent travel is required.
