Communication Manager (m-f-d)

The Scope
We are looking for a Communication Manager who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

As a key member of the Digital Communication team in Technology and Information Unit (TIU), the Communication Manager will develop, establish, and improve the communication strategies to create awareness about TIU’s roadmap, promote FSC’s digital products, applications, and help drive adoption of new tools from a B2B and B2Stakeholder point of view.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, Digital Communication, the manager will:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to align with organizational goals and objectives, ensuring the launch of digital products and services, including messaging and positioning.
  • Liaise with systems experts and programme managers to successfully lead the communication plan from start to finish to launch digital products for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with application development teams within TIU to understand product features, benefits, and target audiences to execute communication campaign across various channels to create awareness and drive adoption of current and upcoming applications releases.
  • Create compelling content for articles, presentations, factsheets, guidelines, brochures, infographics, and other communication materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand voice and values.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Global Communication teams, to support integrated communication efforts and achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with social media team to develop the social media plan for TIU, including digital media content, campaign ideation, timely posting, promotion, and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze communication metrics and performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies, identify areas for improvement, and inform future initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members and stakeholders on communication best practices and messaging strategies.
  • To lead the production of videos and podcasts for web, social media, and other channels, from the script to the final version of the assets.
  • Additional tasks as agreed with the Digital Communication Programme Manager.
Your profile
Education and Training:
  • Bachelor’s University degree in Digital Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
 Working Experience and Skills:
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in communication, ideally within technology and information sector with a focus on launching applications and digital products.
  • Experience in working with digital/technology and applications development. 
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop innovative communication strategies that drive product adoption. 
  • Excellent knowledge of communication principles, methodologies, tools, and platforms.
  • Proven experience in crafting clear and concise massaging to translate complex and challenging technical topics. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing or creating content for social media channels. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, dynamic communication environment.
  • Experience in managing an in-house briefing and production process: creating detailed schedules, setting deadlines, and distributing work between creative resource, as well as monitoring, prioritising, and adjusting in line with workflow. Self-starter who can work independently as part of an international team.
  • Natural and highly effective collaborator with the ability to drive results through teamwork.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Has a deep commitment to responsible forestry and/or broad sustainability in alignment with FSC’s mission.
Communication & Languages: 
  • Proven, high-quality communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to create and deliver complex messaging in clear, concise language to varied audiences.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with proven experience in writing, editing, and proofreading impactful content for the web, media and other digital channels.
  • Open-minded and communicative personality with a high degree of B2B and B2C orientation.
  • Ability to develop strong, positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders geared towards FSC’s mission.
  • Fluency in English (excellent spoken and written). 
  • Proficiency in another language a plus; particularly Spanish and French is an advantage.
 Digital Skills: 
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with Social media monitoring tools 
  • Sendgrid or similar newsletter tool 
  • Competence in Adobe creative suite or similar design tools is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with Drupal content management systems is a plus.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany 
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Duration of Employment: Initial 2-year contract with the intend to convert to open ended. 
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required.
