Programme Manager Geospatial Solution (m-f-d)

The Scope
The Programme Manager for Geospatial Solutions will be pivotal in the development and implementation of the GIS program for the organization, which includes overseeing the development of the program infrastructure, software products, databases, and spatial analytics tools, while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. This role involves managing a team of geospatial systems engineers, managing relationships with technology service providers and partners, and providing the strategic oversight of product development processes, from ideation to launch, focusing on integrating modern GIS technologies and innovative solutions.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
•    Define the strategy and plans for GIS implementations aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. 
•    Lead GIS projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
•    Operationalize the GIS products, including setting channels, resources, and methods to ensure the solutions availability. 
•    Support GIS solutions developed internally including the coordination with external providers and response to internal and external costumers.
•    Provide training and support to staff members involved in GIS projects to enhance their skills and capabilities.
•    Maintain comprehensive documentation of GIS projects, including project plans, technical specifications, and user manuals.

•    Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.


Your profile
Education and Training: 
  • University degree or equivalent training or experience in a relevant field
Working Experience, Style and Skills: 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with Geospatial Systems like ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth, OpenStreetMap. Preferre experience in ESRI.
  • Proven experience using imagery and remote sensing solutions.
  • Ability to perform well while handling simultaneously several staff needs, procurement processes, and partner engagement.
  • Experience running needs analysis workshops and development of project requirements and scope.
  • Solutions and service-oriented attitude to work.
  • Extensive project management experience. 
  • Proven ability to plan and organize digital product work.
  • A strong sense of diligence and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions.

Leadership: 
  • At least 2 years of experience in supervising staff teams. 
  • Proven professional strategic and technical abilities. 
  • Problem solving and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Experience running needs analysis workshops and development of project requirements and scope
  • Inspirational leadership incentivizing a shared commitment for delivering.
Technical Skills:
  • ArcGIS Desktop and Server, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Project Management Tools (Microsoft DevOps, Jira, Trello)
  • User Story and Backlog Management (Microsoft DevOps)
  • Version Control (Git/GitHub)
  • Standard software packages (MS Office) 
  • Database management platforms

Language and Communication Skills: 
  • Fluency in English
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills [that contribute to cohesive team efforts and decision making.]

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany 
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Duration of Employment: Initial 2-year contract with the intend to convert to open ended. 
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required.
