Blockchain Manager (m-f-d)

The Scope
The Blockchain Manager actively supports the implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of blockchain technology for delivering traceability services within FSC certified supply chains. This role entails applying a high level of technical expertise in blockchain to ensure the adoption of best practices, while also translating business requirements into tangible blockchain solutions with a business-minded approach. The Blockchain Manager will manage the operationalization of FSC’s blockchain projects.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
  • To actively support the implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of blockchain within the organization and among key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for blockchain implementation aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide support to team members, ensuring project deliverables meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of blockchain systems, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Develop training and education programs to enhance stakeholders' understanding and adoption of blockchain technology.
  • Manage relationships with technology development vendors.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects and products, ensuring the integrity and security of blockchain systems and data.
  • Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.
Your profile
Education and Training: 
  • University degree or equivalent training or experience in computer science, information technology, engineering, business administration, or a related discipline. A degree in blockchain technology or a specific concentration related to supply chain management or traceability will be a plus.
  • Following Certifications will be a plus: Certified Blockchain Professional (CBP), Certified Blockchain Developer (CBD), or Certified Blockchain Solutions Architect (CBSA)
Working Experience, Style, and Skills: 
  • At least 3 years of professional experience working with blockchain technology, including familiarity with different platforms and consensus mechanism.
  • Proven experience in participating in complex projects from initiation to completion, including defining project scope, creating timelines, and ensuring deliverables meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Knowledge and experience in supply chain management, particularly in areas related to traceability, logistics, procurement, and quality control.
  • Ability to perform well while simultaneously handling a variety of functions, including planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight.
  • Solutions and service-oriented attitude towards work, with a focus on delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of diligence and accuracy in handling sensitive data and ensuring the integrity of systems and traceability records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions and workshops with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, address concerns, and foster collaboration.
Technical Skills:
  • Good understanding blockchain fundamentals, including distributed ledger technology, consensus mechanisms, and smart contracts.
  • Experience with implementing traceability solutions in supply chain management or similar fields.
  • Knowledge in Hyperledger and Web3. 
  • Data Management
  • Project Management and Project Management Tools (Microsoft DevOps, Jira, Trello, Asana).
  • User Stories and Backlog Management (Microsoft DevOps) is a plus.
  • Knowledge in programming languages such as Solidity, Java Script or Phyton is a plus.
  • Version Control (Git/GitHub) is a plus.

Language and Communication Skills: 
  • Fluency in English. 
  • Spanish and French are a plus.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

Others:
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
  • Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization.
  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany 
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Duration of Employment: Initial 2-year contract with the intend to convert to open ended. 
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required.
