The Scope
FSC’s mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. We work to take care of our forests and those who rely on them: by protecting plant and animal species, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, forest workers’ safety, and much more. We achieve this through FSC certification, ensuring forests around the world are responsibly managed. For more information on FSC, visit our website at www.fsc.org.
To effectively meet the challenge of protecting the world’s forests, we are committed to ensuring we have the world’s most skilled people working with us. This commitment extends to everyone that works in FSC around the world: from those that lead the design of policies and standards, to those that roll out those same policies and standards on the ground, and to those that provide us with backbone to do our work.
We are looking for an engaged DEI Officer who brings knowledge, experience, and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment. The role will mainly support the implementation of FSC Framework and Action Plan in Diversity and Gender 2024-2026.
To advance diversity and gender within FSC, a roadmap has been developed through a Strategic Framework and a Green Paper on Gender Equality. To implement the Strategic Framework on Diversity and Gender 2021-2026, in 2023, FSC started mainstreaming gender and diversity within the organization. This year, FSC’s multi-year Action Plan on Diversity and Gender is currently being rolled-out. The plan takes a stepwise approach to implement improvements and bring about change in FSC as an organization and as a system, including forests and solutions such as certification processes.
The DEI Officer will work towards the fulfillment of FSC commitments for diversity, gender equity, inclusion and belonging at FSC, in particular regarding the systematic mainstreaming of DEIB within our organization, certification system, membership, and projects at all levels from global to regional.
To support the implementation of FSC’s Action Plan on Diversity and Gender 2024-2026. This includes supporting the implementation of the Action Plan under organization pillar, focusing on FSC International Staff and the workplace. Additionally, to provide support for implementing the Action Plan under other pillars (certification system, membership, and projects). The Chief People Officer will provide overall oversight, while technical guidance will be provided by the Senior Manager Diversity and Gender.
